The world has gone soft. GPS and mobile phones have become a necessity in exploring. Our lives are getting more comfortable, safer and predictable as the spindle fingers of technology grip the planet. Getting lost now is almost impossible. BOLLOCKS TO THAT!There’s a traffic jam to get to the top of the world’s tallest mountain and some bugger has already walked to the edge of all the maps… What room is there left for those of us who still yearn for a bit of old school adventure?

This year The Adventurists and the Mongol Rally have chosen to support Cool Earth in their work to protect the Amazonas. Best way to explain why is probably to quote The Adventurists. “We’ve been banging on about saving the world for ages and we’ve raised stupendous amounts of money for a load of amazing charities (4.4 million GBP and counting). So we sat down at HQ and pondered on what we could do that will actually save the world and continue the fight to make it less boring. Then it hit us like a well-polished brogue to the nuts: “we must save every rainforest in the world so future generations have somewhere to get stuck”. Not because we’re tree hugging sandal wearers, but because the world would be shit without them. It’s not just about the carbon, the point is rainforests are indescribably excellent.”

The Prostate Cancer Foundation has a significant role in promoting public awareness of this disease. With over 3000 New Zealand men being diagnosed each year, and with early detection leading to better outcomes, it is important that men are aware of the signs of potential disease and also of the checking and screening tests that are available from their doctor. Us lads have chosen this charity to help promote awareness of Men's Health in New Zealand.“I am very proud to be the Patron of the Prostate Cancer Foundation and to add my support to the great work they do. It is so important that we make men aware of the need to have regular prostate checks that will ultimately save lives and lead to better health outcomes for men in New Zealand.” ~Sir Peter Leitch
