A product of the small South Island town of Timaru, with not much to do in this part of the world you had to make your own fun. It was here that the antics started.

I met Scotty at the start of my first year of uni in a maths lecture and have been good mates ever since. Maths assignments soon went out the window (literally) as we swapped them for beer/scrumpy and further trouble ensued. It was a widely accepted fact in our hall of residence-where there was trouble there was Scotty. Living with the guy was an interesting time, antics included the systematic destruction of our flat and starting fires at any given opportunity. If we ever need a fire started on the trip he’s the man for the job.

Fast forward 9 years and although a little more mature, he is still the most accident prone guy I know. Im sure he’s on first name basis with the local hospital staff. Will be sure to pack the first aid kit!

He now lives a relatively peaceful life in Wellington, with the student antics being replaced by cars and motorbikes.

One thing is for sure, where there’s Scotty there’s trouble.

Meet Grievous (Simon) our trusty mechanic and ambassador of optimism. After spending a year living with the guy and his 4 cars I have no doubt that we will go the distance in our little car. Throughout my time living with him in Dunedin he thrived in a garageless and cheap tool environment that was our early student days. En route to Mongolia there will be no luxury of a workshop as well, the only difference being 3 less cars to worry about!

One of the worlds biggest optimists, if told to fix the car with popsicle sticks and a few pieces of string im sure he will consider it. Any non believers will be met with the rhetorical comeback of “so?!”

Famous projects include: “Matt Black” - the car that just keeps going (I think it still goes). That little chopper motorbike he won in laser tag that just wouldnt stop either, im seeing a trend here…

All in all not a bad bloke, our trusty mechanic Simon (Grievous)
